James - Digipak Mock-Up

I firstly hand drew some ideas about possible layouts for the front cover of the digipak, as can be seen below. This helped me to think about the benefits and problems of using the image of the alien. One such problem is that the head of the alien is curved meaning hat there is not much free space left to place the band and album name.
I then created a 'to-scale' net of a digipak and attempted to create a better mock-up on the computer. These mock-up's are below along with explanatory notes. The first image is the front and inside-front panels of the digipak along with the spine. The second image is the back and inside-back panels of the digipak.

  1. This is more like it - well done.

Now add a semiotic analysis to it and more thorough analysis of layout - why the alien? Connotations?

I like the back design with the watermark print of design.

I am still concerned over you using an original image; \I've checked the chief examiner's blog and he is clear about students needing to show evidence of their original images before design.

  2. I like the inside cover idea, this show originality of the original photo we took and background . The front cover I think we should use a band shot , we have booked to do this photo shoot tomorow for the advertisment and also possibly for the digipak.

  3. I like your font a lot, I think the composition of the digipak needs work but it is a strong image you have chosen. I would like to know how the image of this alien incorporates both science and faith?
