JCutts - Technical Analysis

  • The opening second is a extreme close up of the lead singer's hands playing a piano.
  • This is followed by a 4 second close up of the lead singers face. He is lip syncing into a micro phone and gives the audience plenty of time to register he is the lead singer.
  • The skips straight to a special effects shot of the lead jumping through glass in slow motion.
  • As the pace of music increases so does the cutting rate , it skips for a short 1 second clip of the extreme close up we saw in the opening second.
  • Followed by a longer 4 second clip of the leader singer in his performance shot we saw previously. This is a great way to sell the band, through the lead singer.
  • We then see a second and a half shot of the female charecter breaking through glass in slow motion before it swiftly skipping to another 2 second XCU of his hands playing the piano.
  • The next shot is a low angle long shot of the female charecter which last for 2 seconds, this is shot from the side , this skips straight to a head on long shot which has been slowed down very slightly , this lasts 3 seconds.
  • After this we see the slow motion breaking glass shot again for a further 3 seconds before a sharp cut to another performance shot by the lead singer, this also lasts 3 seconds.
  • There is then a cut back to the long shot of the female charecter walking towards the camera, this cuts to a mid shot , followed by a low angle shot and then back to a mid shot. This last 6 seconds in total.
